In two thousand 15 the one child policy was officially abolished. Many experts believe that these problems have the potential to seriously stunt, or even reverse, china's recent economic boom. The ubiquitous preference for male babies has devastated the gender ratio of the country and created a massive shortage of women. For every 100 women in china, there are 115 men. An entire generation of women has vanished from china thanks to the one childpolicy. And the generation of men who would have been their counterparts has been plunged into an inhospitable landscape. There is actually a slang term for this hopeless generation of bachelors called gwanun which means bare branches.
