The Rips of the Sand Grains
The ripples are formed by the interaction between the precise environment, the initial environment of the sand, as well as the speed of the wind. Tiny initial differences in height get magnified and then homogenized into a series of regular ridges that form the ripples. This is generated by the energy that's imparted to the sand grains by the wind.
