Turbo Jet Engines Aren't Powered by Turbo Jets, Right?
Early jet aircraft were powered by turbo jets, which have a very high exhaust velocity. The majority of the air that goes in the engine does not go into the jet. So with this sort of giant fan on the front, there's this big, big fan in the front. This leads to a lower exhaust velocity, more efficiency, more thrust for less fuel.
