The material cause and the intelligent cause are different. The carpenter doesn't become the table, luckily. But there are cases in which the intelligent cause and the material cause are the same. That's why the spider is used as an example in Vedanta. Just as a spider spins the web out of its own body and absorbs it back. If God is the material out of which this universe is made, then what is all this? There must be God here. Swami Vivekananda said, we Hindus worship a transcendent, imminent God who is beyond time, space and causation. It's present here.
