Is It Harder for Young People to Buy a House?
When I was in my twenties and wanted to buy a house, I must say it was a real struggle. It was very difficult to raise a deposit to get the amounts of money I needed each one. House prices have gone completely out of kilter with wages, partly because there is a housing shortage. So I do think that rents are also a problem, not just buying a home. A third of the adult population roughly nearly a third, no, a bit more than a third actually rents. They don't buy and they probably think they can never aspire to buying. And it's very, very difficult for people to afford it.
