The idea that the two parties are effectively the same with minor differences is, of course, not a new concept. The 18th century essayist William Haslett described the two political parties of Britain at the time as "two rival stage coaches" There's a reason why this is so appealing, right? And it's kind of what makes a lot of this third way, neither right nor left messaging, so kind of sneaky and insidious because,. yeah, in large part, like, it tries to address or it kind of pretends that it's going to address a very real public frustration with American institutions.
