The Impact of New Types of Currency on the Economy
I think it still remains to be seen the long run impact of new types of currencies that are being developed. As long as we have an economy that prices and wages and debts are measured in dollars, monetary policy controlling the supply of dollars has a big impact on the economy. I want to make one quick point too about your earlier comment about predictions. Yeah. You know, listeners may wonder, you know, why anyone should believe market monetarose claims that monetary policy was important in the Great Recession. It turned out the Great Recession was far worse in Europe by almost any way of measuring the severity of a recession. And now many economists do see reasons for high housing prices.
