The reasons of death of a great investor is just logistics. You literally have no more time left to meet new companies and make a new investment. If you really want to sit on a board, that's OK. Do it in the first one or two years of the company. But if they're not succeeding after that, then you get off. And by the way, plenty of investors that I've coached have now gotten off off of most of their boards.
