The CFTC chair repeated over and over again that ETH is a commodity, not a security. The contrast could not be stark between the rest of the federal government,. if not all of the states, almost all of the other countries that have taken a serious look at crypto regulation. So with the Wells notice that was around six weeks ago, the Coinbase said that the SEC refused to say which tokens were securities.

The SEC is showing all of its cards. Gary Gensler doesn't want the crypto industry to exist at all. After yesterday's Binance suit, the SEC is going after Coinbase too.
