The Story of Robin Hood
The tales were probably first written and composed by skilled, literate minstrels who could perform stories songs. They often would perform grand tales and romances for aristocratic households at big events entertainments or weddings. But they also might perform more kind of common ribbled, low brow stories and songs aimed at the larger household. And among the servants, those who had the most money and ability to say tip and patronize, these minstrel performers, were yeomen. So the stories of robin hood were probably aimed at this audience of yeomen servants. It shows the stories show some awareness of high romances and chanson de jest like the arthur tales.
