Is the RBI Allowing the Rupee to Weaken Further?
In the year so far, rupee has weakened by less than 2%. Just against US dollar, if I look at it, the week being has been more than 11%. But if we look at it just on REER basis on trade weighted basis, the weekbeing is less than 2%. So this shows that while the weakening has happened, but if you look at what has been happening all around us, the weakening in rupee is relatively less. It's not just Indian rupee. In fact, Indian rupee has weaken less than what we have seen in the other emerging market.
