The Importance of War
He seems to just be interested in war as the ascent of the spirit, as something pure and separate from all other human affairs. I think he likes it as a way to test. It's like life is about pain and sacrilege. Testing one's metal and raising your spirit through hardship. He didn't like those ideologies, try to maximize for things like security and comfort because he saw those breeding indolence and weakness. And he wanted society to test people's ability to sacrifice,. to endure pain and hardship, and to produce heroes.
