Matthew's book is steeped in what we just got done looking at. Matthew references tons of Bible. For 50 times, he explicitly quotes from the Old Testament and he alludes to or references the Old Testament far more even than that. The Old Testament paints a crystal clear picture of the brokenness of humanity and our inability to fix the human condition.
