The Law of Solon
Solon's laws reflect the traditional Greek view that a state was a conglomeration of Oikwe. His legislation formed the backbone of later classical Athenian law and is remarkable for its creativity and scope. Solon had been given an unusual opportunity to think long and hard about the nature of a community. He essentially established the notion of citizenship itself.
