Nitrous Oxide for Labor Analgesia

The American Society of Anesthesiologists committee on obstetric anesthesia has to say about inhaled nitrous oxide during labor. It's safe when used at a 50 50 concentration with oxygen and its safety record is based on not combining nitrous oxide with other sedating agents. The group released that same cautionary tale of nitrous oxide being used concomonately with an narcotic in July of 2021 this was issued as a practice advisory.
