The Effects of Sleep Deprivation on Learning and Memory

One out of every two people in most developed nations is actually trying to survive on six hours of sleep or less during the week. It only takes two weeks to become as cognitively impaired as you would be after pulling an all-nighter, according to a new study. When you are sleep deprived, your brain is 40% worse at learning new material, so 4-0 when it comes to cramming for exams. And specifically, there's a part of your brain called the hippocampus, which is almost like a memory inbox for the brain.
