The Rise of Cities in Heat Days Experience
By 2045, 70% of the world's population and 80% of economic activity will be in urban areas. On average, these cities will have about 12 more heat days a year by 2050 compared to today. Shanghai might see the most increase in extreme heat days in 2050 compared to 2022. We are already really close to the 1.5 degree warming scenario; we haven't even started cutting emissions yet.
