The History of Roller Coasters

By 1919, almost every major city in the US had at least one trolley park. The first enclosed amusement park built at Coney Island was Sea Lion Park which opened in 1885. In 1899, Lena Beecher developed another circular vertical loop roller coaster called the flip flap. Two people who were working on vertical loop roller coasters near the turn of the 20th century were Lena Beechers and Edwin Prescott.
