Is the IMF Too Pessimistic?
The IMF suggests our economy will contract by 0.6%, but the consensus forecast of 24 forecasters is even worse. Only two are actually more optimistic than the IMF, and even they still predict a recession in the UK. This has been an extraordinary difficult period for economic forecasters because these shocks were so dissimilar from what we've seen previously.
