The Pitfalls of Getting to Positions Quickly
Jen: A lot of us come into these conversations unaware of our own implicit biases. We gravitate toward a particular interpretation on something because of our past or because of our hurts, right? And it is a very hard thing to separate those out. I'm going to land in a certain place more often than other places because of where I came from. That's not by definition wrong, but it can be. If you only love certain kinds of theological positions, it's probably an indicator. It takes saying slightly different, pushing on slightly different tensions in order for all of us to hear each others' voice.
