The Importance of Language in Conversations With Russian Speakers
I think realistically should this war end or stop, I think it's much more likely to stop than end if you understand the distinction. Nobody I spoke to mentioned family in Russia. That seems to be last year's issue. And I think just a lot of people have cut off their relations. But for everyone, it's all understood. If an outsider raises this question, then there is an instinct ... to be defensive and to sort of screen out nuance.
