Evacuating Women From the Taliban
I think women watched with broken hearts as the Taliban stripped women of their newly won rights to work and to have an education. At the time when you remember the Taliban were ousted, we were invited in the International Bar Association - I head up their Institute of Human Rights. And at that time, 2008, we helped them set up an independent bar association in Afghanistan. We argued very strongly that the legal profession had to have women in it,. The bench had to haveWomen on it, and the law schools had to open their doors to women.
