The Importance of Being a Fine Human Being

Socrates says we've been too lazy about thinking what causes war and indeed aggression in human society. Socrates is saying that not even aggressiveness in itself is innate. The potential for aggressiveness is innate because of the desires for material, luxuries and comforts. So if you grew up in a society where the philosopher rulers are saying look you don't need masses of Sicilian sweet meats to satisfy your material desires then it could be possible to avoid aggressive war. Yes, he does at least think that it's a possible option that you canavoid aggressive war.
