A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

A monster calls by Patrick Ness is the only book to win both the Carnegie and Greenway Metals in the UK which is their highest awards for writing and illustration at the middle grade or children's level. It captures in fairly simple language but very strong language the complexity of grief whether it's anger or denial etc. I do recommend it also for those who have children that are struggling in grief because it does a good job of capturing the complexity of those the adult space that you know tries to chart a course of your own life.
