Is It a Symptom of a Broken Person?
The desire for endless, repeatable sameness becomes a sort of palliative. There are some kinds of video games like that where it's kind of a mindless activity. That doesn't mean they're bad or anything, of course not, but it means that something's kind of broken in a person in the same way. And I think we're all that way. We should expect to find symptoms of that in all of our lives.
