When you know what to place them in a plte, in a spot in your song for, they become really powerful tools. I think the change in the growth has been ableo being able to decide where i'm going to take the emotion instead of just saying all these chords sound cool together. And so knowing music theory that makes enables me to, ok, now it's not just about random, throwing things at the wall and seeing what stiks.
