The Contrived Part of Behavior Analysis
behavior analysts often look at the controlling variables through a particular lens. They maintain my social positive, social negative or automatic. And sometimes that lens didn't allow us to look for qualitative details of controlling contingencies and we ignored them because they were doing something of a standard nature. We've really come upon by accident is there's a whole bunch of interactions that control problem behavior which you can't see when you isolate them in a standard way. The truth is an effective treatment starts with taking action.
