The apostle Paul says that by nature, we're not only dead to God. We actually share the same interest as the devil, which is to say self-glorification. He doesn't mean everyone who's a Christian is possessed by the devil. The same sort of inner desire and logic that's at work in the devil is at work in us from birth.
