If every time you compile your programme it moves around by three %, just for no reason at all, then it's extremely hard to do this kind of sequence of small scale improvements. And i assume this same problem hits in compiler development. So thereare some people in the tools and compilers sem who developed a bench marking infra structure to help us bench mark compilation versions that we make. One of the things that we've considered is to ad f d o into that bench marking intr. Sould help us level the results. Another way that this could be used is the act ther of some interesting research recently about introducing random changes to the layout.
