The Culture League of German Jews
The jewish culture league and its orchestras were overseen by a natsy official named hans hinkel. When the nuremberg laws were passed in 19 35, stripping jews of their german citizenship, some believed a tolerable existence was still possible in the nazy state. Increasingly ostracized by friends and neighbors, many turned inwards towards the jewish community. For many jewish artists, the culture league was a lifeline. It offered work to hundreds of musicians and performers, including the parents of martin goldsmith.
