What Sub Fields Are Most Promising for Phds?

Philosophy and economics are the most obvious candidates. The central sub fields of moral philosophy and decision theory, relatively formal an istemology, have really been key to the discussions that we've been having so far. If somebody's got the right skill set and the right kind of intellectual bent to both to want to go into economics and to succeed in economics, if they're interested in doing so, then choosing their research topics will be extremely high valued. And there's nowhere near enough people doing that kind of thing.
