Introduction

The Book of the Dead is a collection of papyrus manuscripts and fragments from ancient Egypt. The texts show an ancient civilization that was deeply religious, profoundly concerned with the afterlife. There's a lot more to ancient Egypt than morbid religiosity and a bunch of pointy mausoleums in the desert.
