These flower boats were illegal, but as long as bribes were paid to officials and as long as the brothels weren't on land, well carry on. It was like a one stop entertainment place for men coming into the area. The women here, it should be noted, did not bind their feet. These modern casinos here harken back to an age old tradition. So I'm guessing maybe the moving water washes away the vise? I don't know. That water didn't wash away too much back then because it was hot there. All these sweaty bodies, all this debris and foulness in that water. This is gross water.
