How to Make an Interface Coherent With User-Generated Images

I used to work at CarGurus. All of the images on the site are images coming from car dealerships. They all have text inside of them with like, you know, very big, bold all caps words related to that specific car dealership. You would try to get them out of the image and not allow that kind of thing, but basically impossible. So it was very hard to work around that, especially with color,. The strange colors that would show up in these images, the poor quality. It definitely impacted the visual design of the product. How do you work around that if you have no control over the images?
