Neutral Currents Are Not Observed
The w particle was finally observed in the 19 eighties, and has a mass of about 65 times the mass of a proton. Neutral currents had not been observed in ordinary particle. The best way to observe a neutral current would be by a reaction that involved nutrinos. Changing neutral currents would have led to decay processes, which were not observed.
