When Scalp Stimulation Is Helpful?
Fetal scalp stimulation is intended to be performed during periods of feta rate base line, and is sometimes misapplied during prolonged decelerations. Scalp stimulation during a prolonged deceleration would not likely provide valid information or change clinical management. The extra stress actually causes more of te vegal effect and can keep the baby down. So wes te take home message, feedle scalp stem has a place and a roll,. but it should be used as a test fetal reserve, not as a way to resuscitate a fetal heart rate deceleration.
