The History of Daphne and Apollo
The Greek word for laurel too is just Daphne, though in English it's less impactful. In the version of this story by Ovid we learn an earlier and very different take on the story from Parthhenius. Here also Daphne preferred the wilds of the forest, hunting with her dogs. She did this to be here not infestily like in Ovid, but in the Peloponice or deep in the mountains beyond.
