The Great Replacement
The great gatsby was published the year after congress passed the immigration act of 19 24, which included man dated quotas for less desirable immigrants from eastern europe and excluded asian and north african immigrants altogether. Chatterton williams argues that it's the intellectual underpinnings of replacement theory that have given white supremises and the alt right cover to argue that they aren't racist, but simply anti globalist. He argues that the wildly accepting and progressive left have actually opened a door for these people to say their whiteness is in danger of being erased.
