Zig is a stand-in for the latest Zig compiler, always ready to be built easily. If you need to have it first in practice, the person working on it is in advantageous situation. There are probably practical considerations where probably it would make sense also for them to save the WebAssembly version so that they can then build it for different platform instead of only X86 or having to save multiple copies.
