The role of dopamine in foraging depends on the colony's neurophysiology. Some colonies are more risk averse than others, but if you give them dopamine they're more likely to go out looking for food. There is some relationship between dopamine and its response to the risk of water loss. But it's not so much that the ant is going after the individual reward of food because remember that ants don't eat it out there.
