The ONS's New Method of Measuring International Migration
After 60 years, the ONS wanted to change its method of measuring international migration. Instead of a survey, it was going to use administrative data and visas granted. New arrivals from the EU need a visa to work or study in the UK. The 5 million or so who have settled status can come and go like British residents.
