How Much Has the Language Changed?

The language of aristotle and plato is quite a lot different from the greek you speak in hear reading newspapers, or speak in athens. The language of homer who was writing only two or 300 years before those great attic writers of the fifth century b c are hugely more difficult. If you take it from the porspective of a greek speaker to day, it's not that difficult to read the new testament. You need a dictionary and a bit of grammar to read plato, and everybody needs both to read homer. But they already did in ancient alexandria and in the before the, before the common era, yes.
