Mikoyan's Political Career
After the Russian revolutions of 1917, Anastas Mikoyan helped to found a commune in Baku Azerbaijan. He led a commando group that broke them out of prison but they were recaptured and executed. In 1926, Mikoyan was appointed People's Commissar of external and internal trade. His wife would borrow money from high-ranking Soviet women who had fewer children than he did.
