The May 4th Movement of 1919
The May 4th movement of 1919 was a political movement in Chinese history following the Republican revolution. It can be seen as a deepening of the nationalist revolution and concerns that were raised through the nationalist revolution. Here culture was brought down to its absolutely everyday level of routine family life, gendered relations and so on and so forth. Culture wasn't understood to be exclusively some highfalutin thing only accessible to a very small number of people.
