Stalin's Life and Times

Stalin's decision to turn on the Soviet Union was a grave error of judgement. It changed the course of World War II and with it world history. The Battle of Stalingrad killed 19,000 people a day - 1.2 million in total. He demanded that countries surrounding USSR should become socialist satellite states. By 1953 3% of entire USSR population was imprisoned or executed. Stalin had always been a heavy drinker but he suffered a stroke at age 74.
