Video essay is supposed to be accompaniment to one of the chapters of my book, which i had already kind of published an article version of. The main thing that i wanted to do, say a little bit differently from how my friend did his, was i wanted the video to be a stand alone piece. I wanted anyone who could pick it up to understand at least an argument,. Not all the arguments in the essay, but i wanted to create some kind of linear, minative piece that could stand on its own. A lot of the aesthetic choices that i made, like not doing voice over, doing text, came from the practices that i was most comfortable with, that i learned at
