The Rights of a Future Person
In the 90s there were some harmful life lawsuits based on companies that did genetic testing or produce birth control and people said I should never have been born. One of the arguments was you can't harm someone who doesn't yet exist but Joe Feinberg says it's so you don't have to exist now in order for people to have obligations to you. In other words we thought let's rape the earth so we can get all these immediate benefits and the future generations finally gonna be worse off, he argues.
