Writing for Themselves vs. Writing for Others
They discuss the difference between writing when knowing they will direct versus writing for a studio or another director. When writing for themselves, they feel more free to include all the details and opinions they have on the movie. However, when writing for other directors or without a director attached, they may need to strip out some details to avoid alienating the future director.
