The English Language Has More Words Borrowed From Hawaiian Than It Has From Welsh

The English language has more words borrowed from Hawaiian than it has from Welsh. There seems to be a theory that it's actually snobbery. It was Anglo-Saxon snobbery that repressed the world language. The OED ranks different languages in terms of how many words from them have ended up in the OED. Latin comes first and French comes second. But Hawaiian manages to beat Welsh as does Turkish and Icelandic.
