Investing in People, Not Promises
Scientists engaging in things like fusion research are doing it because it's a passion project for the most part. They're working hard, playing with ideas and concepts. We can't predict the growth of knowledge. Invest in people, not promises. Promises are not proof, but people are problem solvers. You won't be so disappointed investing while using this heuristic when applied to pure science as you won't expect that the solution is just around the corner.
